Guardians of the Heart of Society for a Quarter of a Century
Since its establishment in 1993, Hemofarm Foundation has been caring for people’s health, raising the quality of services of the Serbian healthcare system, and establishing public-private partnerships with the aim of improving the quality of life in the local community.
More than 2,000 activities in the value of over 12 million EUR have been completed through programs for health, education and culture throughout the 25 years of the Foundation’s existence.
The crucial and publicly most recognised projects of the Hemofarm Foundation within the Program for Health have been: ‘The Most Important Call in Life’ campaign, focused on the importance of organ donation, and ‘Don’t Let it Burst’ campaign, on prevention of high blood pressure, as well as the ‘Wholeheartedly’ national campaign, as part of which aid has been provided to a number of healthcare institutions in Serbia through donations in medical devices and equipment. Following the initiative of Hemofarm Foundation, the National Donor Day (6th June) was established in 2016, while in 2018, a new Law on human organ transplantation was passed. In addition, the initiative for establishing the National Day of Fighting High Blood Pressure has also been launched. Over 3,300 young people, future bearers of positive changes in the society have been supported as part of the Program for Education, while various initiatives, representing a motor of a modern society development, have been supported within the Program for Culture.
Marking the 25 years of its work, Hemofarm Foundation has established the Excellence Award, awarded each year to individuals, organisations, and institutions for their contribution to changing the society for the better. The winner of the first Excellence Award is Vigor Majić, Director of Petnica Science Center. He was awarded for developing an authentic model of out-of-school education, which has retained a high level of quality and created a wide impact on generations of young people, as well as on hundreds of teachers. In addition to the crane statuette – a work of the artist Aleksandar Vac, the Excellence Award also consists of a monetary part.
Hemofarm Foundation has also accomplished numerous actions which involved the company employees, from blood donations to collection of humanitarian aid for NURDOR, Drop-In Shelter for Children, Shelter for Adults and Elderly People in Distress in Kumodraška Street, and other.
Over the past two and a half decades, Hemofarm Foundation has received a number of accolades for its work and social activities. In the course of the past three and a half years only, the Foundation received a total of 22 local, regional, and international awards, while in the year 2017 it was named the leading foundation in Serbia.
