We all come into this world, with parents taking care of us, directing us towards future successes, and building our experience and knowledge about the world we live in; after that, we have our (pre)school teachers, our coaches for football or any other sport; even when the teenage years are over, there are professors to guide us through the university period. And then, suddenly, we are left to ourselves, trying to become professionals and make something out of the previously learned. And this, I have to admit, is not fair. We all still need guidance but at the same time, so little is provided to us.

EVERYTHING CAN BE ACHIEVED WITH DEDICATION AND WILL

It’s nice to be a mentor to someone, the same as it is nice to have a mentor. In both cases it is a two-way learning process. Mentor, as a person who has gained experience through maturing in work and life and can now see from a distance what that path has brought, but can also advise, direct and help a young person through an interactive process of exchanging experiences. Mentee can also provide insight into the attitudes and values of different generations, the problems they face through current education, as well as the specifics of the times in which they grow up. I love working with people because they are a source of inspiration. I like to learn from others and pass on my knowledge to others. This program came at the right time. As a quite active and curious as well as systematic person and because I need to operate in the organized system, I often used to be under great stress, but I have learnt a lot over time and improved myself, developing the skills through internal and external trainings on topic of people management, emotional intelligence… I advise to colleagues to listen to themselves, explore, learn from others, be good colleagues, positive, not to be afraid of making mistakes. They should look forward to things to come. Along with actively practicing dance, participating in various sporting events and a fairly active social life, I am someone who balances work and private obligations all my life, and this is precisely why I think I can motivate my mentee that with good organization, dedication and will, everything can be achieved.

Despite my seventeen years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry, the role of a mentor, in a formal sense, is new to me. Informally, I have always tried in my work to share the knowledge and experiences with younger colleagues and to contribute with my advice to their personal and professional development, especially having in mind that in some phases of development I lacked such a support. I hope that through this program I will be able to render full support to my mentee, both through knowledge and encouraging of the innovative approach to work but also to everyday life. The essence of mentorship support is that students, young professionals and future colleagues at the beginning of their careers receive advice and exchange experience and knowledge with the already proven professionals. Mentorship support is quite important. It is a huge advantage to have by your side the people you can ask for advice and opinion when you don't know how to solve a problem in the best way.
