My voice, my trademark
My name is Biljana Francuski, and I work as the Quality Director at the Vršac/Dubovac production site. Today, I won’t be writing about standards and procedures, but about something that brightens my day and recharges my batteries – choral singing – an activity that both calms and energizes me.
I’ve loved music for as long as I can remember, but when I joined the pop – rock choir Family three years ago, I realized just how much singing can enrich everyday life. Since then, I’ve regularly participated in rehearsals and performances, and hardly a week goes by without that precious time just for myself.
After the very first rehearsals, I noticed a change – I felt more relaxed, more cheerful, with songs I would hum for days. While singing, I focus only on tone, rhythm, and lyrics – my thoughts quiet down, and my worries fade away. The choir gives me a rhythm that restores balance. I even started listening to music differently – songs I used to skip over, I now truly feel, understand their message, and carry them with me.
The choir brings together people of different ages and professions, but what unites us is the same – a love for music. When you sing in a choir, you become part of a team with a shared goal. Every voice matters, but only when they come together does real magic happen. Our conductor often says, “Let’s all sing as one!” – and that phrase captures the essence of our togetherness.
Singing is also a physical activity. As a soprano, I have to pay attention to breathing, posture, and vocal strength. I regularly walk and do breathing and stretching exercises – because the voice is an instrument that requires training. Performances are a special dimension of choir life. That feeling on stage – the nerves turning into pride – is hard to describe. The audience, the applause, the emotion – all of it brings a sense of fulfillment, pride, and gratitude for having made someone’s day better. Music truly is a universal language – and the choir conveys it every time, loudly, clearly, and sincerely.
I personally enjoy being on stage, but for those who are afraid of public speaking or presenting – choral singing is a great way to overcome that fear. It’s easier when you’re not alone, when you have support, and when you share both the responsibility and the joy.
I’m a cheerful, energetic, and expressive person, and singing brings me great happiness. It helps me relieve stress and contributes to a better work-life balance. My voice is my trademark – both in my professional and personal life, and now, also on stage.
