An encounter that means a lot to all of us
23. Jun 2022.
Members of the student section of the Serbian Society for Molecular Biology visited the Hemofarm headquarters in Vršac early this week, where they got acquainted with our corporate culture, values, and work processes, attended professional lectures and had a tour of the production plant.

Owing to the cooperation of this Society and the Hemofarm Foundation, several important lectures were held, which were attended by scholarship holders of the foundation, including ’A Week with the Nobel Laureates’ and a lecture by Dr. Bruce Alberts, one of today's most successful cell biologists and author of the world's most famous and renowned textbook in molecular biology "Molecular Biology of the Cell".

The best students of the molecular biology department of the Faculty of Biology in Belgrade, members of the Serbian Society for Molecular Biology, expressed interest in getting to know Hemofarm's production processes, innovations in which the company invests, as well as prospects for future cooperation.

The students began their visit to Vršac by touring the high-bay warehouse, where warehousing expert associate Natasa Čupić presented the warehouse plan, its organization, as well as the detailed storage process. The visitors were impressed by the automation and capabilities of the largest and most modern warehouse in the region.

In the Packaging Centre, the students were cordially greeted by the expert associate in production, Marijana Uzelac. While following all the required sanitary measures, they heard about the tablet packaging process and the complex organization of work.

The production of tablets was shown to the students by the coordinator of operational excellence Aleksandar Stojanović and, with even stricter sanitary and safety measures, our curious guests had a unique opportunity to enter the very heart of the production plant and learn about the tablet production process, efficiency and operation of cutting edge machines.

Two lectures were organized within the visit program, on topics chosen by the students themselves. Regional CHC product manager Nevena Stupar held an exceptionally informative lecture on probiotics, presenting in detail the full range of Hemofarm probiotics. Nevena talked about the composition of different types of probiotics, their beneficial effects on our microbiota, as well as on the overall health of the body.

Regional Rx product manager Katarina Barudžija, as a former scholarship holder of the Hemofarm Foundation particularly looked forward to this cooperation.

‘It is very nice to see these young, exceptional, cultured people exuding enthusiasm, general education and a desire to hear something new. I think that it is very useful and motivating for students to see how one of the most successful companies in Serbia operates, to see the complexity of pharmaceutical production, strict control and following of protocols, and to get acquainted with our corporate culture. On the other hand, in this way, Hemofarm company is able to get in touch with promising students who can later on become potential candidates for employment’, said Katarina.

Clearly and systematically, our colleague Katarina held a very inspired lecture on antibiotics, she presented all the types and effects of antibiotics, as well as the pitfalls for developing resistance. She also presented and announced a new antibiotic that Hemofarm shall introduce as part of its portfolio starting in September.

Students showed great interest in both topics, they asked numerous questions, and thus the lecture was followed by a dynamic discussion on practical and theoretical aspects of developing new formulas of medicinal products.

Student Natalija Krstić shared with us her impressions and why such visit to a company is important for her: "The visit to Hemofarm was very positive and pleasant but above all, important because we were able to hear many interesting things from fields that are familiar to us, and to get to know how this company functions. As I will finish my studies soon, today's experience will certainly have impact on the direction of my future professional career".

Both students and hosts took with them strong impressions of the day organized with the aim of exchanging values based on good will and desire for progress.
