Serbian Philanthropy Forum and Coalition for Giving marked the National Giving Day, paying tribute to the companies, civil society organizations, and media companies that gave the most considerable contribution to the ‘Save Food, Save Humanity’ campaign; donors, companies, and individuals excelled in the field of nourishing philanthropic values. Among the companies that received recognition were Hemofarm company and Hemofarm Foundation, which supported the campaign with monetary donations and involved their employees in voluntary actions and food donations of basic food supplies to the most vulnerable citizens in Serbia.

While 446,000 people in Serbia live on the brink of absolute poverty, an estimated two million kilograms of food is thrown away in our country daily. In addition to the extensive engagement of companies and individuals in raising awareness among citizens of the food wasting problem, food donations in Serbia could be increased by almost RSD 160 million (to a total of RSD 700 million) annually if the government would abolished VAT on food donation.

Suzana Đorđević, director of the Hemofarm Foundation, accepted the Award on behalf of the Hemofarm company and the Foundation.
