Special Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases Gornja Toponica Takes Over SOS Line 0800 001 002
09. Jul 2024.
As of July 1, 2024, the daily operation of the SOS line 0800 001 002, established as part of the project to combat depression and the stigma associated with it, "Unbreakable," has been taken over by the Special Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases Gornja Toponica and its doctors, led by the hospital director, Dr. Milan Stanojković. The line, which remains free and anonymous, will be available to the citizens of Serbia every working day from 9 AM to 3 PM.

The “Unbreakable” campaign was launched in April 2021 at the initiative of the Hemofarm Foundation and in partnership with the Ministry of Health of Serbia, the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Belgrade, and four Special Hospitals for Psychiatric Diseases in Vršac, Gornja Toponica, Kovin, and Novi Kneževac. From 2021 to 2023, more than 20,000 people received psycho-social assistance and support through the free and anonymous SOS line, email addresses podrska@nesalomivi.rs, pokret@nesalomivi.rs, and the social media channels of the Hemofarm Foundation and “Unbreakable.” Approximately 40 doctors from the four special hospitals for psychiatric diseases, trained to provide help through the SOS line, have been offering support 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the past three years. A Guide for SOS Line Operation has also been developed.

The “Unbreakable” campaign has been recognized and awarded 15 accolades at global, European, regional, and national competitions and festivals that promote socially responsible initiatives. It has been cited as a good practice example in the field of mental health in a report submitted to the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights at the United Nations. The campaign has received support from over a million individuals and 657 international and domestic institutions, companies, organizations, and initiatives that actively participated in the campaign. The greatest recognition, however, remains the knowledge that people have been provided with free professional help.

The Hemofarm Foundation continues its work in the field of mental health through a series of forums titled “A Cup of Coffee with a Psychologist.”
