Responsibility rests on the young people - We are drivers of change
As a final year student at the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2019-2020 academic year, I was granted a scholarship from Hemofarm Foundation. What was more satisfying to me than the scholarship was the opportunity to be a participant in the You Can Do It Program.

Last year was tough, unpredictable and full of challenges for all of us. We all had to learn to live in a new reality, which required sacrifice and adaptation to the new situation. The rate of adaptation to new functioning and working conditions was precisely the fact that indicated why Hemofarm is the best pharmaceutical company in the region. This feature makes a crucial difference between the average and the best and it is a direct reflection of the company's quality.

Internship Program included a month-long stay in the company so as to gain practical experience, but due to the pandemic, it was held online. I was skeptical about how the virtual could replace the actual, but to my delight the lectures were interactive with a lot of demonstration material. The most important was the created atmosphere indicating that we do not miss anything and that we would not be deprived of any information. Owing to wonderful interlocutors and, above all, experts, I learned about different divisions and the method of their operation within the company, opportunities for professional development within each division, challenges that employees face and the way they overcome them.

Internship Program in Germany was also held online, and I had the opportunity to hear how their education and health system was organized and how they responded to challenges posed by the pandemic. Alexander Jung's lecture allowed me to understand the role of Angela Merkel's office during the pandemic and what psychological, social, educational actions were taken to gradually bring society back to normal functioning. Andreas Wanke, Director of Sustainability and Energy Management Department at Freie University, pointed out why sustainability is a topic that has become increasingly topical issue and should be discussed more. Norbert Beckmann, Director of the KAS Foundation for Serbia and Montenegro, spoke about the importance of political and social activism. I was most impressed by the lecture of Luciano Brujan, Senior Officer of the International Relations Department with the German National Academy of Sciences - Leopoldina. Namely, when adopting anti-pandemic measures, the German authorities consult with experts of this institution in order to make the best decision for all citizens. I was most fascinated by the way they solved the main issue after the outbreak of the pandemic, which was where to accommodate the people infected with corona virus, as well as how to provide health care to other patients suffering from various diseases. They solved the problem by dividing the specialized hospitals physically into two parts - one part retained its original function, while the other was intended for COVID 19 patients.

It was interesting to hear that everything they do must be transparent, because if it is not so, the trust of citizens is lost. Transparency is a word that has lost its meaning in our country, but such experiences help us, young people, to implement what we have learned and acquired in work and daily life in order to help the development of society, because it is the responsibility of each person.

Participation in the Mentoring Program has enabled me to work on both professional and personal development through a system of support and counseling by the mentor.

The overall experience has helped me to confirm the earlier assumption that Hemofarm is the best company in the region, that it employs great experts who selflessly share their knowledge and gladly pass it on to us, young people, who are at the beginning of the career. Thanks to it, I am also presently employed with Hemofarm.

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Hemofarm Foundation without which this Program would not exist. I would like to express my gratitude to Milena Rajković, Project Manager, and Suzana Đorđević, Director of Hemofarm Foundation.

Thank you for the unforgettable experience and for doing your job with so much love. You have inspired us to love our country, stay here, and be the drivers of change at a time when an increasing number of young people are leaving. That is certainly who you are.
